Six Pack Abs Diet

Some people find the word “diet” to be a bit confusing. There is a common misconception, within today’s society, that a diet is something you “go on” or “go off of” in accordance with wanting to change your size or body shape. The truth, however, is that each and every one of us is currently on a personal diet. It may be a fat loss diet, or it may be a fat or muscle gaining diet. If you’re not sure what your food is currently doing for (or to) your body, it’s probably time to take a moment, figure it out, and compare your diet with your goals. Drink Water
The standard recommendation is 64 ounces of water per person, per day. If you’re exerting any significant amount of energy on physical activity, you are more than likely going to need even more.

Keeping your body properly hydrated is the best way to stave off water retention and bloating (which can quickly transform a flat belly into a pooch, if you’re not careful), and also help you consume fewer empty calories. You see, our brains often misinterpret thirst signals as hunger, leading us to eat when all we really need is a glass of water. By staying hydrated, we can better equip our bodies to distinguish real hunger signals; and can keep from overeating just because we are thirsty.

Go Green (and Brown)
Fresh vegetables—especially leafy greens and other brightly colored produce options—provide our bodies with a wide assortment of essential vitamins and nutrients. While it’s true that you may be able to get most of these from a supplement, consider the fact that whole fruits and veggies are also an excellent source of fiber: which helps give you feelings of fullness and satisfaction after a meal.

Whole grain complex carbohydrates, like breads and brown rice, are also good sources of natural fiber; and give your body lasting energy. Whether you’re just trying to make it through a long afternoon, or need to fuel an intense workout session, complex carbs will give you energy without that painful crash.

Think Protein
For any muscle gaining diet (which your six pack abs diet should be), you will want to increase your protein intake to around 50% of your total daily calories, and really focus on consuming lean options. Meats like chicken and turkey, as well as fish, beans, and tofu are great sources of protein with hardly any of the fat found in red meats. By making smart protein choices, you will ensure that your body has enough of the amino acids necessary to build muscle tissue, with little to no excess fat.

A good six pack abs diet will naturally be complimented by routine cardio and strength training exercise, to get visible results, fast. Remember: we’re all on individual diets already; the question is whether our current eating habits are helping or hindering us from reaching our best physical potential.
