Here is the truth about crunches: they can make your abs stronger, but they won’t make your torso leaner. If you’re looking to get great abs, but need to burn off some extra tummy fat first, then you’ll need to focus on what you eat, as well as strengthening your abs with regular, targeted exercises.

Most of us have at least a general idea of what types of foods are good for our bodies, and what types simply don’t have any worthwhile nutritional benefits. For example: if I asked you to choose the more healthful choice between an apple and a plate of Oreos, you’d probably choose the fruit quickly and with certainty. But what if I asked you to choose between a slice of cheese pizza and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich from a fast food restaurant? It’s a tougher choice.

If you really want a successful abs diet, then my best recommendation is that you stay away from expensive programs and meal plans, and put some time into nutritional education. This way you’ll be well equipped to choose foods and make other choices that fit your lifestyle and will help you reach your goals. Making conscious changes to what you already do is a much better way to diet than trying to follow someone else’s program that will inevitably leave you bored, hungry, or both.

First the basics: fried food is out; as are most snacks that come in brightly colored packages. Look for grocery store options that advertise little or no saturated fat; and stay away from processed foods high in sodium and fat whenever possible. Fresh fruits and veggies are low in calories, high in fiber, and contain many of the vitamins and minerals that healthy bodies need. Look for rich colors and aim for at least a serving of produce with every meal.

Consuming lean proteins like poultry, fish, and even beans will help you replace fat with lean abdominal muscle tissue: given the right workout efforts. Seafood choices also contain omega-3 fatty acids—very beneficial fats that our bodies need— so treat yourself to fish twice a week.

Don’t sabotage your best efforts and intentions by keeping poor snack choices in the house, either. It’s fine to treat yourself to your favorite guilty pleasure food every now and then, but keeping a half gallon of ice cream in the freezer just isn’t a smart idea. When I’m in the mood to indulge my sweet tooth, I walk to the ice cream store and get a scoop of whatever I want. The extra effort reminds me that it’s a treat; and I’m satisfied without gorging myself straight from the carton.

If you’ve got a significant amount of fat to lose before your abs can show through, then reducing your overall calorie intake will also be an important part of your new diet. By filling up on fiber-rich produce and complex carbohydrates, you’ll be able to consume fewer calories while still satisfying your stomach and your energy needs.

If you’re ready to get a six pack, the first step toward success will be to shape up your eating habits. So focus on nutrition and choose foods that give your body more than just empty calories. You’ll be showing off great abs before you know it!

For those of us who don’t already have swimsuit models’ bodies, the question of how to get perfect abs can seem like a riddle with no answer. While I have not yet uncovered a quick and easy trick to getting great abs fast, I can give you some pointers that will get you going in the right direction. And if you head in the right direction with enough determination and conviction, you will end up getting where you want to go.

Eat Like You Mean It
Part of whittling down your waistline and getting abs faster is cutting out the junk your body doesn’t need, in order to reduce whatever amount of fat is hiding your abs from the world. Plan ahead by anticipating mid-morning or afternoon snack attacks, and packing snacks to take along wherever you’re going. Choose low fat, fiber-rich foods that will actually help put your hunger away for awhile. Fresh fruit, peanut butter and whole grain crackers, or low fat string cheese, are all smart choices that can easily be kept on hand to save you that trip to the candy jar on the corner desk, or the vending machine down the hall.

Keep Your Goal in Mind
The great thing about abs is this: the more you think about them, the harder you can make them work. Whether you’re walking around the grocery store, sitting at your desk, or out on your daily run, tighten up your abdominal muscles by pulling your belly button in toward your spine. It will give you good practice for great posture, and work the abs’ endurance strength. The more often and longer you can make it a habit to do this, the quicker and sooner you will achieve visible results.

Work Hard(er)
Now, it’s possible that you already max out your muscles and your energy every time you get into the gym. More often than not, however, there is room for improvement in this area. During weight lifting sessions, make sure you re-evaluate your weights and exercises often, to ensure that your muscles are being duly challenged. Work all of your major muscle groups—including your abs—with resistance that gets them to fatigue relatively quickly, and you will gain lean muscle mass.

During cardio stints, push your intensity higher with hills or sprint intervals. If you prefer cycling to running, try a spinning class, to really challenge you with a variable intensity workout. The longer you can work at a higher level of exertion, the more calories you can burn during a workout. Since perfect abs are not generally covered with a layer of fat, the more calories and excess fat you can burn on any given day, the faster you can reach your goal.

Getting perfect abs—like achieving perfection in anything—will undoubtedly take time and effort, but it can certainly be worthwhile. If you are ready to take your physique to the next level of health and fitness, embrace a lifestyle of healthy eating and regular exercise with open arms, and make it your own. You’ll have abs to show off in no time.

Some people find the word “diet” to be a bit confusing. There is a common misconception, within today’s society, that a diet is something you “go on” or “go off of” in accordance with wanting to change your size or body shape. The truth, however, is that each and every one of us is currently on a personal diet. It may be a fat loss diet, or it may be a fat or muscle gaining diet. If you’re not sure what your food is currently doing for (or to) your body, it’s probably time to take a moment, figure it out, and compare your diet with your goals. If you want to get a slimmer waist and rock hard abs, then following a few simple six pack abs diet tips will help.

Drink Water
The standard recommendation is 64 ounces of water per person, per day. If you’re exerting any significant amount of energy on physical activity, you are more than likely going to need even more.

Keeping your body properly hydrated is the best way to stave off water retention and bloating (which can quickly transform a flat belly into a pooch, if you’re not careful), and also help you consume fewer empty calories. You see, our brains often misinterpret thirst signals as hunger, leading us to eat when all we really need is a glass of water. By staying hydrated, we can better equip our bodies to distinguish real hunger signals; and can keep from overeating just because we are thirsty.

Go Green (and Brown)
Fresh vegetables—especially leafy greens and other brightly colored produce options—provide our bodies with a wide assortment of essential vitamins and nutrients. While it’s true that you may be able to get most of these from a supplement, consider the fact that whole fruits and veggies are also an excellent source of fiber: which helps give you feelings of fullness and satisfaction after a meal.

Whole grain complex carbohydrates, like breads and brown rice, are also good sources of natural fiber; and give your body lasting energy. Whether you’re just trying to make it through a long afternoon, or need to fuel an intense workout session, complex carbs will give you energy without that painful crash.

Think Protein
For any muscle gaining diet (which your six pack abs diet should be), you will want to increase your protein intake to around 50% of your total daily calories, and really focus on consuming lean options. Meats like chicken and turkey, as well as fish, beans, and tofu are great sources of protein with hardly any of the fat found in red meats. By making smart protein choices, you will ensure that your body has enough of the amino acids necessary to build muscle tissue, with little to no excess fat.

A good six pack abs diet will naturally be complimented by routine cardio and strength training exercise, to get visible results, fast. Remember: we’re all on individual diets already; the question is whether our current eating habits are helping or hindering us from reaching our best physical potential. With a few simple changes, you can fuel your body more efficiently and set yourself up for six pack success. Trust me: it’s worth a shot.

If you’ve ever tried—or even considered working on six pack abs—you probably realize that it’s no easy feat. Getting great abs takes work, but success will certainly have its rewards. For some great six pack abs exercises to get you going and keep you motivated, read on.

Variable Speed Bicycle Crunch
If you’re focused on abs, you probably know that the bicycle crunch is pretty much the most effective of the crunching or curling-type six pack abs exercises out there. Whereas a typical crunch or reverse curl works primarily the rectus abdominis (your six pack muscle: front and center), the bicycle crunch also effectively targets your obliques.

The internal and external obliques are positioned on each side of the rectus abdominis and wrap around the sides of your torso. They are the muscles responsible for the tapered look, and serrated side-cut of a lean, toned torso.

To add a different element to your bicycle crunches, change up your pace either within or between sets. Slower movements with extra pauses and abs squeezes will emphasize the stabilizing aspect of your abs; while keeping the tempo up will work the flexion-extension side.

Swiss Ball Leg Raises
This one is similar to a bicycle crunch in its emphasis on contraction of the obliques, but positioning your body on an exercise ball incorporates a greater degree of general core stabilization.

Sit on the ball so that your hips and knees form ninety degree angles when you are upright. Lift one foot from the ground, and extend at the knee. Lower your upper body back, and crunch up, keeping your abs tightly contracted; and raise the lifted foot as you squeeze from your body’s center.

For more of a challenge, add another long lever to the movement by extending your opposite arm (opposite of the lifted leg, that is) straight up beside your head. Try to touch extended hand and foot at the top of each crunch. For the maximum six pack abs effect, try to let your hips move as little as possible. Remember: the more stabilizing you have to do, the more your abs will be working at any given moment.

Swiss Ball Tucks
Using the same exercise ball, change your body position so that your hands are on the ground beneath your shoulders and your lower legs (about mid-shin) rest on the ball. If you’re just getting started with serious abs work, it may be enough of a challenge just to hold still in this position.

When you feel stable enough to add another challenge, pull your knees in toward your chest, consciously thinking about contracting your abs and working from your body’s center as you do so. Angle your tucks by twisting your hips, to target one side or the other. Slow down the movement—especially the extension back to your starting position— to really use that ever-important stabilizing factor.

If you’re looking for even more of a challenge, try the scissor: start with your knees on the ball, and twist to one side as you pull the bottom leg in toward your chest. Keep the other leg extended until you return to the starting position.

With these six pack abs exercises, you should be off to a great start toward the body you’ve always wanted. Consistency and hard work will be vital to your success, so get to it and enjoy! You have nothing to lose but your love handles.

Asking a trainer how to get abs fast and easy is kind of like asking a dentist how to fix a cavity without numbness or drilling. It’s not really possible. I’m not saying these things to discourage you, I promise. But it is very important to set realistic goals; especially when it comes to health and fitness. If we go into something looking for an easy way and come to find out there isn’t one, we are less likely to keep plugging away. If we know from the beginning that something is going to require hard work and dedication, it’s actually much easier to stick it out.

So now that I’ve given you the hard facts, let’s try to minimize the pain. Getting great abs definitely is possible, but it will necessarily require making some lifestyle changes and sacrifices. Diet and exercise will, naturally, play very important roles in the success or failure of your efforts; so here are some simple rules to keep you sane on the way to a sleeker, slimmer physique.

Remember that almost anything is all right in moderation, and live accordingly. Above all, do not turn things you love into the enemy in an effort to cut fat or gain muscle. If you struggle with your weight but love chocolate chip cookies, for example, treat yourself to a fresh one from the bakery on a day when you walk or ride your bike to work. Don’t keep boxes in the pantry, because that’s an obvious invitation to binge; but don’t feel like you have to cut them out of your life altogether.

When it comes to exercise, do what you must to make it a regular part of your life. One of the most common excuses for not exercising is a lack of time. It’s true: our days our busy. But squeezing thirty minutes out of a day to do something good for yourself in the form of physical fitness is rarely (if ever) impossible. If all else fails, pack a healthy lunch to eat at your desk, and use your allotted lunch break to go for a power walk around the block.

One of the best ways to stick with any program is not to go at it alone. So recruit a buddy with whom you can share your goal of getting abs as fast and easily as possible. Trade healthful recipes or go to the gym together. Having someone else to share the journey toward physical fitness will keep your motivation high and your chances of quitting low.

While I meant it when I said there was no sure way to get abs fast and easy, I’m equally sure that with the right attitude and awareness, you can achieve any health and fitness goal. If getting great abs is yours, don’t be discouraged by the lack of a quick fix. Instead, commit to the work you know it’s going to take, and modify your life to support your goal in every way. In the end, it feels better to accomplish something through hard work than to have it handed to you. So get going now, and those abs will be yours fast and easily enough.

Ever wanted to know how to get flat abs fast? Quit smoking. All right, that was a joke. Kicking cigarettes out of your life probably won’t give you sexy, flat abs. But I figured I’d try to squeeze another health tip in here while I’m at it. No more jokes. I promise.

If you really want to get flat abs quickly, you’re probably going to have to change what you allow into your body. The Flat Belly Diet—a new book published by the editors of Shape Magazine—recommends a 4 day anti-bloat diet to kick off a new, healthier lifestyle.

If your goal is to button your jeans without muffin topping, or to get rid of a little bulge so that your bikini looks better, an anti bloat type of diet may be just what you need. If you’ve ever “gone on a diet” before, you know that the first week or two will usually yield the greatest results. In fact, much of the weight that you lose at the beginning of a diet is water weight, which is great news if you’re trying to get flatter abs fast.

If your body is prone to retaining excess water, you’re actually in good shape for trying to get flat abs in a hurry. This is because water can be removed from your system much faster than actual fat. Our bodies store water as a reaction to perceived deprivation. If you don’t drink enough water (8 8oz. glasses is the standard recommendation; if you’re working out regularly you’ll want to up your intake), or you consume large amounts of certain foods and beverages, your body will think it cannot get enough water; and will therefore start holding it in.

Cutting caffeinated beverages and salty foods out of your diet can help your body get back to normal water levels in just a few days. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means that it flushes fluids out of your body. If you remember the process of osmosis from high school chemistry, you know that salt actually pulls water out of your cells.

Whatever the cause of your dehydration—lack of fluid intake or consuming too much of water-stealing foods and drinks— the effect is the same. Your body starts retaining water, and you begin to feel bloated.

Eating foods that “don’t agree” with your digestive system is another reason you might feel a little chubby or bloated on any given day. Lactose intolerance is a prime example that affects many people. Drink a bit of milk or eat a scoop of ice cream, and suddenly you’re uncomfortable and looking down at a blown up belly.

Staying away from foods that commonly cause discomfort, as well as anything you’ve had a bad digestive reaction to in the past can help you slim down in a jiff!

By staying hydrated and paying attention to what you eat and drink on a daily basis, you can start to see flat abs in just days. Try it for yourself, and see whether your favorite jeans don’t button a little easier tomorrow.

Ah, the lower abs. How coy they can be, refusing to show themselves despite your best efforts. Bringing out well-sculpted lower abs can be the one of the toughest aspects of any body builder’s physique; so how are the rest of us supposed to accomplish such a feat? Well, just like with any attempt at reshaping our bodies, the issue of how to get lower abs fast will take work on multiple fronts.

Women, especially, tend to store fat on the lower part of the abdomen. This can make it quite tough to reveal well-toned lower abs, even with constant work and training. Getting rid of body fat—whether we have a small amount or a whole lot to lose—can be one of the most challenging parts of getting into top physical shape. But if you can accomplish a fat loss goal, you can truly reveal the body you want people to see.

I firmly believe that it’s easier to run and lift weights than to stop eating sweets: it’s just a part of who I am. Chocolate is definitely one of my weaknesses, but it’s one that I recognize, and one that I work to counteract every day. Even when I’m really focusing on physical fitness, I never deprive myself completely of the things I love. But I do try perform penance in the form of running an extra mile or finding some other way to burn away those extra calories. It’s not a perfect method, but it helps me to remember moderation. After all, running off the calories in a whole box of cookies is far more effort than even I am willing to expend.

Striving for balance between the things we need and the things we enjoy should be an essential part of all of our lives. Getting back to the topic at hand: if you want to get lower abs fast, you’ll need to balance the work and sacrifice necessary with the things that make you happy in life.

Don’t stop eating, but do commit to spending some hard core time in the gym. Doing bicycle crunches and reverse curls are a good place to start, but stubborn lower abs often take more innovative exercise solutions.

Try adding resistance to your regular lower abs exercises—with bands, a medicine ball, or some sort of free weight setup—to make your muscles work harder than ever before. It can also help maintain focus on your target area if you do workouts for different sections of the abs on different days.

On lower abs day, don’t let yourself drift into the easy, familiar realm of full abdominal work. Isolate your lower abs by keeping your upper body still, and they will have to work hard. Keep your focus low and your effort high, and those lower abs fibers will get the workout they deserve.

Even if you struggle with your lower abs, don’t give up on the goal of a well-sculpted six pack. If stubborn, lower belly fat is the problem, make small changes to your diet and exercise routine to burn a few extra calories each day, and it will go away.

Sit up straight and suck in your gut. That’s a start. Seriously: the reason so many of us have flabby, saggy abs is that we don’t use them. Like anything that sits dormant for long enough, our abs stop function as intended, and get covered with layers of filth (or, in this specific case: fat). If you’re looking for how to get rock hard abs fast, the key is to get your parts back in working order.

The abs are postural endurance muscles by nature, which means that they have the potential to work hard a majority of the time, with very little need for rest or recovery. If you’re really trying to get rock hard abs you can (and should) be working yours every day.

Alternate days of weighted and non-weighted abs work to help your muscles reach their full potential without overuse injury. (Remember: even though the abs are supposed to be able to work hard all of the time, it’s going to take a little work to get them back into prime condition.)

A common strategic mistake in the quest for rock hard abs is to neglect the rest of your body while focusing on your midsection. Instead, try to bring an abdominal element into every part of your full body workout. If you’re doing push ups, slow them down and keep your belly button tightly pulled in for the duration of the set. If you’re doing biceps curls, stand on one leg, or on a Bosu ball, to make your core work extra hard at supporting your entire body.

The more you call upon your abs to work, the more readily they will perform as needed. To surpass functionality and make your abs rock hard, work even harder. Add high intensity cardio to your workouts. Interspersing sprints throughout your typical run or bike ride will torch a ton of calories, and help you get rid of any fat that is standing between your abs and the world.

Consistency is the key to any lifestyle change, so if you’re serious about getting rock hard abs, you need to work on them every day. When the exception becomes the rule, you’ll know that your workout plan has gone right out the window. All too soon you’ll be back to wearing baggy T-shirts ad loosening your belt to that old comfortable notch. Stay on top of your game!

If you really want to make a change, and see results fast, you have to commit to your goal. Rock hard abs certainly aren’t easy to attain. If they were, everyone would be walking around shirtless, looking like fitness models. The work that goes in to getting great abs is what keeps so many people from having them; and their relative rarity is part of what makes them so appealing.

The thing to remember is that getting great abs is, by no means, an impossible goal. If you’re willing to put in the time to burn more calories, build more muscle, and zap more fat off of your boy than ever before, then rock hard abs are within your reach. All you have to do is reach out and take hold. It’s your body, after all.

If the number of people who expressed an interest in getting 6 pack abs actually put in the work to get them, we would all be walking around with lean, hard beach bodies. My point is that everyone wants great abs. The thing people don’t realize is that a 6 pack really is achievable for almost anyone. Individual physical starting points will certainly dictate the amount of time and effort it will take any one person to achieve a 6 pack; but with resolve and a little know how, it’s only a matter of time.

If you’re set on revealing a 6 pack, get started on your stomach today. A combination of eating smart and working out hard will have you feeling more healthy and energetic in no time; and will help convince you that 6 pack abs are closer than you ever imagined.

Step 1: You Are What You Eat (and Donuts Don’t Have Abs)
We should all be aware of the effects of what we put into our bodies. Some distinctions are easy (cookie: bad, spinach: good), and some are not so obvious (bagel with cream cheese: bad, whole grain cereal with milk: good).

Part of becoming a fitter version of yourself is learning which foods and drinks will help your body, and which are just a bunch of empty calories. Train yourself to eat whole grains, lean meats, and lots of fresh produce. You’ll reap the benefits of lasting energy (great for those long workouts), efficient muscle repair (helpful in building lean muscle mass), and a variety of vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

Try not to consume anything without first asking yourself what it’s going to do for your body. If you can’t come up with a good answer, choose a different snachttp://www.howtogetabsfastsite.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpk. By training your appetite to support your body’s efforts, you will be setting yourself up for lifelong success, in addition to moving quickly toward a sweet 6 pack.

Step 2: Sweat and Sweat Some More
No, I’m not suggesting you wrap your body in plastic bags and sit in the sauna for hours. I’m talking about working out! Every move you make burns calories, which leads to the fat reduction that will reveal your chiseled 6 pack. And the more muscles you use in any given movement—you guessed it!—the more calories you’ll burn.

So leave the long, slow jog and hour’s worth of crunches to someone else. You want to work harder. You want 6 pack abs, and fast. If you like to run, cut your standard route in half and run sprint intervals. Do the same with cycling. Join a kickboxing club and burn fat like you never have before, with intense, full body moves. And through it all, think about your abs.

Tighten up your abs each time they cross your mind. Force them to help you with every single move you make, and they will get stronger, flatter, and ripped; faster than you ever thought possible.

Shed the excess and concentrate on your goal: this is the fastest way to get a 6 pack. It won’t be easy, but if you really want it you can get there. Are you ready?

Whatever your reason for wanting to get a more toned tummy quickly, chances are good that if you’re here you don’t have much time. If you’re already sporting a slim midsection, and are just looking for some muscle definition, skip down a few paragraphs. If stomach size is a major part of your problem, never fear. Read on for some tips and tricks proven to make your tummy flatter in just days.

For women especially, water retention and bloating play huge roles in the appearance of our stomachs on any given day. If you’re trying to get abs fast, working to counteract bloating should be your first step.

If you normally consume lots of salty foods, soft drinks or other caffeinated beverages, or large quantities of spicy foods and flavorings, you have a great deal of potential to decrease your waistline simply by reducing bloating.

Caffeine is a diuretic, which means that it really does remove water from your system. If your body adapts to this effect, it will try to ward off dehydration by holding in as much water as possible. Salt—though not a diuretic—has a similar effect. Salty foods dehydrate you, and your body retains water as a result.

If we were still hunters and gatherers, this automatic storage system would make sense, because we might not know when the next fresh drink of water would be available. Today, however, it is a nuisance, and a hindrance in your quest for flat abs.

Spicy foods have the tendency to irritate our stomachs and GI tracts: not a good thing when we are trying to calm and flatten our tummies. Staying away from spice and making sure to stay hydrated (with real water; not soda pop or other sweet drinks) will help your body feel comfortable, and can substantially help reduce bloating.

That’s right: you’ve got to drink water to get rid of water weight. As stated before, your body begins to store water when it begins to get the least bit dehydrated. Make it understand that you have a constant supply of water at your disposal, and it will stop storing so much excess.

Once you have begun to deal with the bloating, it’s time to firm up your abs as quickly as possible. This part is going to require a fair bit of work, but the more you’re willing to put in, the better your results will be.

Look for a form of exercise that will let you burn high numbers of calories while strengthening your abs, to get the most efficient workout in the least amount of time. Kickboxing is a killer cardio and full body workout, with a core emphasis unmatched by almost any other single type of workout.

Structure your gym time so that you hit up a kickboxing class before moving to the mats for some hard core abs isolation work. This will help you get flat abs much sooner than, say, spending the same amount of time on a treadmill.

Whether you’re dreading an upcoming weekend at the beach or an uncomfortable at the thought of a looming pool party, you still have time to get flatter abs. Remember that little steps can produce great results. So cut the foods and drinks that make you look and feel bloated, and hit the gym with the highest intensity you can muster. The higher your resolve, the greater your results will be. Get to work!
